Our Story

Piel de Tierra Skincare, LLC is a Latina owned and operated small business, founded in 2020 by Norma Vargas.

Piel de Tierra is committed to providing skincare products that are sustainable, all-natural and allow you to reconnect with your roots. We strive to show the representation of different skin colors. Since Piel de Tierra was founded by a first-generation Latina, it is important for Piel de Tierra to give back to the community by providing donations, sharing knowledge on skincare and entrepreneurship.

At Piel de Tierra we are abolitionists, we support LGBTQIA rights, we believe Black Lives Matter. We do not support ICE, the police, and the prison system. We acknowledge that we are on stolen land and respect it.

In 2018, I moved to New Mexico for seven months before moving back to Chicago. Living in New Mexico and being surrounded by the Organ Mountains and The Chihuahuan Desert allowed me to grow a deeper love, appreciation, and connection with nature.  During this time, I began to suffer from very dry skin and developed acne scars near my thighs due to a hormonal imbalance. At the time, I didn’t have a skin-care routine that worked with my skin, so I began to research and experiment with all-natural ingredients to create my own sensitive skin-care lotion. After eleven months of trials, I formulated the perfect recipe for Piel de Tierra. I want to share my lotion with you, so you too can experience how natural ingredients can benefit your skin through hydration and healing, leaving  you feeling healthier and more confident about your skin.

Feel your skin soak up the all-natural ingredients of Piel de Tierra which include aloe vera oil, sea buckthorn oil, shea butter, olive oil and beeswax, and see yourself glow.
